Created in 2018, "Sixes" lacrosse has grown rapidly to meet the need for a version of lacrosse that is more accessible globally, while maintaining the speed, intensity, and spectating appeal of traditional lacrosse.
It eliminates previous barriers of strategy, equipment, and cost. The goal of Sixes is not to replace the classic field lacrosse, but to complement it and ensure the sport's inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games in Modern Los Angeles.
Reduced number of players on the field compared to the traditional format, ensuring a dynamic and fast game.
Shorter halves and non-stop action — an ideal format for spectators and sports development.
Sixes is the lacrosse format approved to be included in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
A smaller field requires more precise passing, faster decisions, and higher individual skills.

In the Latvian women's lacrosse system, Sixes is integrated as an essential part of player development. It serves as a great platform for the local league, accelerating technique refinement for new players and providing more playing minutes in international-level practices.
Also, our national team regularly competes in regional and international Sixes tournaments, perfecting the tactical framework that also strengthens the traditional full-field lacrosse team.
